Places to Visit

Una National Park

Fethija Mosque

The oldest mosque in Bihac, built in the 16th century. A fine example of Ottoman architecture, it’s worth visiting for its beautiful calligraphy and intricate decoration.

Museum of Una-Sana Canton

A fascinating museum that provides a comprehensive overview of the history and culture of the region. Includes displays of traditional clothing, religious artifacts, and weaponry.

Pliva Waterfall

A picturesque waterfall that drops into a crystal clear lake. Surrounded by greenery, it’s an ideal spot for a picnic or a swim.

Kostelski Buk Waterfall

A stunning waterfall that cascades down into the Una river. Accessible by hiking trail or by boat, it’s a popular spot for swimming and rafting.

City Walls

Bihac has been fortified since ancient times, and the city walls date back to the Ottoman era. A walk along the walls offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings.

Una Regatta

An annual event held in August, the Una Regatta is a 3-day race down the Una river. It’s a fun and exciting event, with teams from all over Europe competing.

Kulen Vakuf

A scenic village located on the banks of the Una river. With its picturesque streets and traditional buildings, it’s a charming place to visit.

Croatian Border

Bihac is located close to the Croatian border, making it an ideal base for exploring the nearby towns and villages on the Croatian side of the river.

Zeljava Air Base

A former Yugoslav Air Force base, Zeljava was once one of the largest underground military airports in the world. It’s now abandoned and partly destroyed, but still an interesting place to explore.

Places to Avoid

Migrant Camps

Due to its location on the border with Croatia, Bihac has become a major transit point for migrants and refugees. While they are generally well-treated and supported by the local community, the camps themselves are not tourist attractions.

Industrial Areas

Bihac is an industrial city, and while this has brought economic benefits, the factories and warehouses are not particularly scenic or interesting for visitors.

Banjalucka Street

A busy, noisy street filled with shops, bars and restaurants. While it’s a convenient location for locals, there are much more appealing areas of the city to explore.

Kamengrad

An abandoned village that was once used as a film set. While it’s an interesting concept, the village has fallen into disrepair and is not safe to explore.

Golubic Hill

A hill with stunning views of the city, but also notorious for being a popular spot for drug dealers and users. Not a safe place to visit, particularly after dark.
